Meet Sarah

Sarah Finnane built Sarah Finnane Design on a lifelong love of color, texture, and the kind of spaces that instantly feel welcoming. Her work is rooted in thoughtful design that balances beauty with function—homes that look refined and live comfortably.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Sarah’s path to interior design wasn’t linear. More than a decade in the Chicago corporate world, a move back to her home state and three renovations of her own clarified what had always been there: a deep instinct for creating layered, livable interiors.

Sarah believes great design begins with listening. She values open communication, collaboration, and a process that feels organized, positive, and even fun. Meetings should be something clients look forward to. The goal is not just a finished space, but an experience that feels thoughtful from start to finish.

Her aesthetic centers on juxtaposition—old with new, polished with patina, clean lines layered with warmth and texture. She loves refreshing well-loved pieces, honoring the history of a home, and guiding clients toward measured risks that add depth and personality. No cookie-cutter spaces, no trend chasing. Just interiors that feel personal, intentional, and built to last.

Whether designing a new home from the ground up or styling a single room, her goal is simply to create spaces that clients are proud to call their own.

Sarah lives in a lovingly renovated midcentury home in Ann Arbor with her husband, Jay, their two teenagers, and their dog, Javy.
